Chris Lovell BSc. Est. Man. MRICS is a Chartered Surveyor and a Registered Valuer. He has been a qualified member of the General Practice division of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) since 1986 having attained his degree at Southbank University (then a Polytechnic!). He gained experience in London with Jones Lang Wootton (latterly Jones Lang La Salle) and King & Co (latterly King Sturge); both firms have now, incidentally, merged. He gained experience in several areas including Auctions, Property Management, Investment and Valuation, both in the UK and in Europe.
He returned to the Island in 1989 to join the family firm which was started by his Great Grandfather in 1879. He has over 20 years experience in the property market in Guernsey and, as a Company Director, he advises many private individuals, Companies and Corporates in Valuation, Investment and Agency roles. He regularly provides Bank valuations and acts as an “Expert” in property matters and is the Chairman of the Local Branch of the RICS. He fronts the Residential Team at Lovells and is ably assisted by Fran Bourget who is an Associate of the firm.
In his spare time he served as Constable of the Parish of St Saviour, a 3 year post; he enjoys boating (whenever the time and weather permits) and making shavings & saw dust from lumps of wood – otherwise known as woodworking! He and his wife can often be seen on the cliffs walking one of their many dogs.
Howard is the Commercial Director and heads up the firm’s agency and professional functions. He has been a qualified member of the General Practice division of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) since 1992. His main functions all involve valuation, be it for lending or accounting purposes, or for prospective sales, lettings, acquisition and development work. He is also one of the island’s few qualified rent review specialists.
He studied Urban Estate Surveying at Trent Polytechnic, Nottingham and graduated in 1989, starting his working life with Edward Erdman (now Colliers CRE) in London, moving to Jones Lang LaSalle in 1993, then transferring to the firm’s Leeds office in 1997. All told, he has worked in the commercial property field for 23 years.
Howard has lived in Guernsey for 12 years, having moved back to the Island with his wife in 1999, to join the rest of his family who arrived here in 1985.
Mike is our Director of Property Management. He was born and raised in Guernsey with a local family history dating back a number of generations. Mike is married to his wife, Lisa, and they have two young children.
Mike’s experience in the property/building industry dates back over 20 years when he started out as an apprentice electrician with Guernsey Electricity. Following completion of his apprenticeship he moved into an administrative role quoting and designing electrical installations and providing tariff and consumption advice to consumers.
After nine years with Guernsey Electricity, he was offered a position as department manager within one of the islands leading mechanical and electrical contractors where he remained until joining Lovells in 2001, as an Assistant Property Manager.
After spending most of her working life in the finance sector, Fran joined the local market sales team in April 2005. Alongside her colleague Sophie, they have been working hard to further endorse the name of Lovells by offering a friendly and approachable service backed by a sound knowledge of the local property market. Appreciating that buying and selling property can be extremely stressful, Fran believes that one of the most important roles of a negotiator is to be able to communicate with people, helping to build a relationship based on confidence and trust.
Fran recently undertook a two year course gaining a Diploma in Surveying Practice and is an Associate Director of the company being responsible for the residential sales team. Fran works with both Sophie on the Local Market but also assists Chris Lovell with the Open Market.
Outside the office, Fran is heavily involved in running the music sessions of the Eisteddfod and loves spending her holidays visiting her sister in New Zealand!
Tony is one of our Property Managers. He first joined us during 2007/2008 and experienced both the residential and commercial sectors. Following time away living in Austria and Holland, Tony rejoined the team in 2010 in the role of a Commercial Property Manager, alongside and assisting Mike Collins.
Tony was educated at Haute Capelles and The Grammar School. After his ‘O’ levels, Tony spent 14 years in the Finance Industry. Taking 6 months off to spend the winter of ‘98 in Canada, Tony became a snowboarding instructor and enjoyed 8 seasons of instructing, in Austria, over the next 10 years. In his free time, Tony likes to keep fit all year round whether running, going to the gym or playing softball and volleyball.
Sophie has worked in the Estate Agency business for over ten years and has a broad knowledge of the Guernsey property market. Prior to this she worked in the finance industry and also spent time working with horses in both England and Australia.
Joining Lovells in 2005 as a Local Market Negotiator, Sophie also gained her Diploma in Surveying Practice and is now responsible for the day to day running of the local market department. Working alongside Fran, Sophie strives to provide an honest and professional approach to the Island’s property market.
Sophie loves spending time outdoors and can often be seen running or walking her small sausage dog along the beautiful south coast cliffs in St Martins!
Helen has recently joined Lovells as a trainee local market negotiator. She left the Grammar School with 3 A Levels in 2010 and has spent the last few months working as a cashier at NatWest.
Helen has wanted to be an estate agent from an early age and based her A level choices on the subjects she thought might be most useful to her when applying for a negotiator role. We are certainly keen to make use of her extensive knowledge of photography!
In her spare time, Helen plays volleyball in both the ladies and mixed leagues and also enjoys surfing and Zumba.
Chelsea joined Lovells in April 2000 as a receptionist in the Sales team and has gradually, over her 11 plus years employment, gained valuable experience moving from the Residential Sales division to become a Secretary/Receptionist of the Commercial team and today she is our Lettings Manager. She also looks after a portion of the Property Management Portfolio so has good knowledge in most areas of the business.
Having previously worked in Finance and Trust, she feels this is a more challenging and active position where her day can be anything from preparing a Lease to putting a new roof on a property!
Knowing how stressful it can be for people trying to find a property as well as Landlords trying to find good tenants, Chelsea can certainly put all at ease ensuring that the lettings process goes as smoothly as possible.
Sally has worked in estate agency for almost seven years and joined Lovells in April 2009 as Secretarial and Administration Support for the Residential Management and Lettings team.
Having previously worked in the finance industry for many years as Personnel and Office Manager, Sally has experience of looking after both property and people! Her grandfather was a builder and thinks she gets her passion for properties from him. Sally enjoys meeting people and assisting them in their search for a home.
Although Sally has worked abroad in Austria and South Africa, she loves Guernsey but still enjoys travelling. More recently, Sally has been bitten by the cruise bug and she is always planning the next trip with her husband!
In October 1998 Chantal took up a two week temporary placement as a Secretary for the Property Management and Commercial Department at Lovells. 13 years later she is still here!
During her time at Lovells Chantal has worked in both the Lettings and Sales Departments and has therefore gained a broad knowledge of all property matters.
Chantal has now turned full circle and since October 2009 has been working back in the Management Department as a Residential Property Manager but she also assists the Lettings Manager as and when required.
Prior to joining Lovells Chantal worked in the finance industry for a number of years although property has always been in her blood as she comes from a family of building contractors and has also renovated a couple of her own properties in the past.
Jemma is one of our Assistant Property Managers, working alongside Tony Fulgoni. She was born locally and educated at The Ladies’ College before undertaking a Bsc (Hons) degree in Building Surveying. Mandy is one of our Assistant Property Managers, working alongside Mike Collins.
Prior to joining Lovells, Mandy worked in numerous property-related businesses including architects/surveyors, developers, builder’s merchants and estate agents. She joined Lovells in 2007 initially as an Open Market Negotiator but due to the need to bolster our management capabilities, she recently moved upstairs into Property Management.
She was born and bred in Guernsey and educated at The Grammar School for Girls and College of Further Education. During the weekends in the summer months, you can find Mandy serving specialised “Mr. Softees” in her ice-cream van down at Havelet Bay!
Maureen is our Senior Secretary and started her secretarial career in the finance industry, moving after a number of years to the Environment Department, then known as the IDC for a short spell, before moving to Lovells where she has been for the last 25 years.
Although she works predominantly in the Commercial Management Department, she has also covered in the Residential Sales and Lettings Departments when necessary.
Maureen thrives on a challenge and certainly gets that in management where each day presents different challenges. Out of hours she enjoys live theatre, doing all sorts of craft work and holidays with her son and his partner in the UK and further afield.
Gill Queripel is our Accounts Administrator and has been with Lovells for over 25 years, providing essential accounting support to the Board of Directors, as well as all the various departments of the firm as a whole.
Gill also has a great involvement in service charge administration and rent collection for our managed client portfolio.
In her spare time, Gill runs the Nerine Netball Club and is considered to be one of the most successful coaches in Guernsey. She also coaches the England Mixed Nets team and had the fantastic opportunity of coaching the mens and mixed netball teams at the Indoor Netball Tri Series in South Africa a short while back, which included some Guernsey players.
Michelle joined Lovells in 2008 as an Open Market Secretary/Receptionist.
Michelle’s role is to meet and greet our applicants and direct them to the correct department within the building. Michelle also has good knowledge of all of the properties currently for sale with Lovells and can provide potential purchasers with property details, directions etc.
Prior to joining Lovells, Michelle worked in the banking and insurance industries but felt that she needed a more rewarding position.
