Torteval Parish Profile
The parish of Torteval is the smallest of the parishes in Guernsey and one of the most rural. The walks and cliff paths are spectacular, the pretty fishing harbour of Portelet being one of the loveliest.
The cliffs and paths around Les Tielles and Pleinmont headland are particularly popular with walkers and dog walkers. Occasionally parascenders can be seen taking off from the cliffs at Pleinmont. The parish has a population of about 1,000 people and an area of about 1.2 sq miles (3.1 sq km).
Torteval hosts an annual Scarecrow Trail from the parish church. Scarecrows of all shapes and sizes are displayed in gardens with a prize for the most ingenious and fun.
Primary School catchment for this parish is the Forest Primary.
